Why Tho? for parents: approval, progress and privacy

Why Tho? is for learners 13 and up. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian to approve them first, through a link or QR code. Parents then see progress and a weekly summary, never the words of their learner's chats.

Approval comes first

A learner under 18 can set up, but the chat stays closed until a parent says yes. The learner shares a link or shows a QR code; the parent signs in, sees exactly what they're approving, confirms they're 18 or older, agrees to the Terms and the Privacy policy, and approves.

What parents see

Progress, the skills learned, and a weekly summary. A second guardian can be invited to see the same.

What we keep

The birth year and country, never a name. Chats are kept for the learner for up to 12 months and can be deleted; parents don't read them.

Safety

Only serious risks can trigger a safety alert to a parent, and never when the danger may be at home. Learners are shown crisis lines where they apply.

Plans

Free includes unlimited messages and new pictures every week. A parent can pick a paid plan for more pictures; see pricing.
